Carrie Fisher was an icon and an inspiration for her frank discussion of mental illness, her role as one of the strongest female heroes in film and her wide-ranging career as an actress and writer.

On Twitter, she was light-hearted and incisive in her commentary about herself, politics, her family and her dog.

Fisher died Tuesday at 60 years old. In memoriam, some of her best moments online:

1. Her thoughts on body image or her 'brain bag'

2. Her political commentary

3. Her self-deprecating humor

4. Her openness about addiction

5. Her approach to aging

6. Her devotion to Twitter and her 'sass factories'

7. Her moments as a proud mom

8. And as a proud dog mom to Gary Fisher
