It's been exactly one year since the legend Carrie Fisher left us, and her on-screen brother Mark Hamill will never forget her.

The actor who plays Luke Skywalker tweeted a sweet and totally fitting tribute to the actress who played Princess Leia, and people responded with an outpouring of love and remembrance.

The first drawing perfectly encapsulates Fisher's rebel spirit, and is a wonderful likeness of her dog, Gary. (We found the image here, if you're interested. It's called "Our Blessed Rebel Queen" and it's by Lindsay Vanek.)

The other two photos show the on-screen brother and sister over the years. Seeing them in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and knowing that this was her last film makes the whole thing even more emotional.

Fisher died at age 60 on Dec. 27, 2016, four days after suffering a medical emergency on a flight from London to Los Angeles. The coroner ruled her death was due to sleep apnea and other unknown factors. Her battle with substance abuse was well-known and she spoke about it openly. Fisher's mother, Debbie Reynolds, died a day later.

Here are some more of the tributes to our rebel general.

And a poignant reference to how she said she wanted to die, in an interview:
