You may think there are loads of different British crime shows out there, but you're wrong about that.

There are actually only three different shows and they come in a variety of different disguises.

Emma Wortley perfectly summed up this phenomenon with a tweet that went viral on Sunday.

To be fair, it checks out. It wasn't long before people were citing examples that perfectly slot into all three categories.

Case closed.
