Oops. Announcers mix up Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte during race.

Michael Phelps claimed yet another gold medal (the 22nd of his career) by dominating the field in the 200-meter individual medley.

But CBC viewers might be forgiven for thinking Lochte won. Phelps and Lochte were swimming side by side and Phelps pulled away in the final length of the pool. Except the CBC announcers got their lanes mixed up and thought it was Ryan Lochte who was blowing everyone else out of the water.

"Finally he's going to do it," one of the announcers yelled. "Ryan Lochte is going to beat Michael Phelps in this event in the games!"

It's only after a few moments of confusion that he realizes his mistake and, in an almost heartbroken voice, apologizes for his mistake.

In the announcer's defense, it's hard to read the names on the swim caps with all the splashing water, especially from wherever in the arena the announcers are calling the race.

In fact, it was Lochte who disappointingly finished out of the medal standings.

Still, one should know to never doubt the power of Phelps in an Olympics.
