LAS VEGAS — There are smart homes and then there are smart homes. While new connected appliances and gadgets for the home are a mainstay at each year's CES, major appliances are getting better than ever.

From ovens that can automatically turn off when you burn your food to refrigerators that can also be your assistant and washing machines so smart you'll actually look forward to laundry day, smart home tech has reached new levels.

Here's a look at some of the slickest smart appliances we've seen at CES.

Samsung's 4-in-1 quadruples your laundry abilities

Samsung wants you to seriously step up your laundry game. The company's latest 4-in-1 washer and dryer allows you to wash and dry four loads of laundry simultaneously. Both the washer and dryer include a separate compartment on the top for smaller loads. The dryer's top compartment is also optimized for delicate items. The 4-in-1 is also app enabled so you can control laundry cycles from your smartphone.

GE's Nest-enabled ovens turn off when you burn your food

GE added an integration with Nest to its line of connected ovens. Now, the company's smart ovens that are in homes with a Nest Protect are able to turn off automatically when smoke is detected.

Whirlpool Washer and Dryer Combo does it all

Whirlpool's new "all-in-one" combo stands to make laundry day a lot less work. With a washing machine and dryer combined into one unit, each load of laundry begins drying as soon as the wash cycle ends. The app-connected appliance also has Amazon's Dash buttons built in so you never have to worry about running out of detergent.

Samsung's Family Hub 2.0 fridges come with a kitchen assistant

With Samsung's updated Family Hub technology, its refrigerators are now voice activated. Using the company's S assistant, you can use voice commands to find out the weather, check your calendar and add items to your grocery list. The fridge also comes with a camera that lets you remotely peek inside using your smartphone and add items you need to your grocery list. It also comes with its own built-in recipe app and will plug into other apps, like Spotify, GrubHub and iHeartRadio.

LG's InstaView refrigerator has Alexa powers built in

LG is brining Amazon's Alexa right into your kitchen with its new InstaView refrigerator. The fridge, which comes with a huge 29-inch touchscreen, has Alexa abilities built right in. It also integrates with Amazon's grocery delivery service Amazon Fresh and Amazon Music. You can also use the touchscreen to look inside your fridge without opening it — tap twice on the display and it turns transparent to let you see inside.
