Can Chance the Rapper do something mean, please?

Chicago's philanthropic rapper brought an early Christmas to his home city on Monday, gifting 300 pairs of unreleased Jordan Retro 11s to a crowd of high school students.

Chance was attending his monthly Open Mike night, a youth event presented by his charity SocialWorks and the Chicago Public Library. The event coincided with the three-year anniversary of the death of Chance's mentor, Chicago poet and activist Mike Hawkins, for whom the Open Mike events are named.

At Monday's event, which featured rapper Korporate as a speaker, Chance took the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium stage, then gifted 300 pairs of $220 Jordan 11s to every single attendee — and these sneakers won't be released until Saturday, Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. ET.

Seriously, this goddamn guy. As if setting up a $2.2 million fund for Chicago Public Schools' arts programs, or donating one of his Grammys to Chicago's DuSable Museum of African American History, wasn't enough.
