Since reboots are the pop culture trend du jour, this one was probably inevitable: The CW is developing a new take on The WB's beloved supernatural drama Charmed, Mashable has confirmed.

But before you light your torches and go on a witch hunt to defend the honor of the Halliwell sisters, there are a few things you should know:

1) The new iteration of Charmed is described as a "reimagining," not a reboot, and will be set in 1976 if it gets picked up to series. There's no word yet on whether it will center around the Halliwell family or another group of spellcasters.

2) The deal is only for a script -- the show hasn't been given a pilot order for filming yet -- which means that the project may not ever see the light of day; it all depends on what the network thinks of the script when it comes in.

Still, there's reason to be cautiously optimistic about the show's chances, considering the team behind the new version.

Jane the Virgin creator Jennie Snyder Urman is executive producing the project, and came up with the story alongside Jane writer-producers Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin.

O'Toole and Rardin will also executive produce in addition to penning the script. Rounding out the EP roster are Ben Silverman and Brad Silberling, the latter of whom will direct the pilot if the show gets to that stage. The project hails from CBS Television Studios.

The original Charmed ran from 1998 until 2006, and followed a trio of sisters known as The Charmed Ones -- good witches sworn to protect the world from warlocks and demons.

The cult hit starred Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, and Alyssa Milano for the first three seasons, with Doherty being replaced by Rose McGowan from Season 4 on.

Netflix recently revived another WB hit, Gilmore Girls, for a sequel series, which certainly generated buzz for the streaming network, and The CW is also currently developing an adaptation of the cult '80s vampire movie The Lost Boys.

Just stay away from Buffy, okay guys?
