Twitter trolls be trolling and teens be like, "Let them eat cheesecake."

A fierce and fashionable 18-year-old who goes by Kerione recently attended her high school prom in a fly-as-hell red and white gown.

She posted a photo of her look to Twitter on April 23, which has since accrued over 9,000 likes and 3,000 retweets.

Unfortunately, not everyone was supportive of the high schooler's prom look.

One Twitter user who goes by '2 Pump Chump' -- clearly no one has told him a name like that isn't endearing to future lovers -- tweeted an image comparing Kerione's dress to a strawberry cheesecake.

Many were upset by the image comparison and believed it was a form of bullying.

One such Twitter user, 16-year-old Kenna Sharp, decided to speak out against the tweet, which she came across on her own timeline.

"I've dealt with so much harassment and bullying online," Sharp told Mashable in an email. "It's something that doesn't even phase me anymore but when somebody else is being attacked for things they shouldn't be attacked for, I feel extremely inclined to come to their defense."

While Sharp doesn't know Kerione personally, she urged her 41,000 followers to stand up for Kerione and tweet photos of themselves comparing their own looks to cheesecakes.

After her initial cheesecake tweet, Sharp created the hashtag  #CompareYourselfToACheesecake2016. Over the past week, thousands of fellow teens are tweeting images of themselves next to decadent slices of tasty cheesecake to support Kerione and to stand up to her Twitter bully.

"I feel so proud that there are so many people coming together to support her," Sharp said. "Other girls (and boys, and everyone in between), fat, skinny, tall, short, black, white, everyone is so supportive. I hope more than anything that it will show young people, and even adults to stand up against something that isn't right, and use whatever resources you have to spread a positive message."

As of now, Sharp has yet to speak to the high schooler who sparked the movement with her pretty prom dress.

"I don't want to come across as if I am the hero or anything like that because I'm not," Sharp said. "It was just a silly hashtag I came up with in the moment to defend her and it just happened to turn into something huge."

However, she does plan to reach out to Kerione when the attention dies down.

"I'm sure its overwhelming when there are so many people mentioning her and sharing all kinds of stuff, so I don't want to overwhelm her anymore," Sharp explained. "When everything cools down I'll shoot her a message, but for now she said she felt amazing and important, and that's all I could have ever asked for."

At the time of publishing, Mashable has not been able to reach Kerione for comment.
