Chris Gayle has halted the Internet Down Under yet again.

The West Indian cricket star announced on Instagram Thursday he has named his newborn daughter Blush. To anyone that follows Australian sporting controversies, Gayle is surely having a laugh.

The name is a clear reference to a hugely controversial interview he had with Australian sports journalist Mel McLaughlin in January. The jury is still out whether it is real or fake.

Gayle became a talking point for what felt like eight decades in Australia when he dropped a flirtatious comment as he was interviewed by McLaughlin during a cricket match in Tasmania.

"I wanted to come and have an interview with you as well. This is the reason why I'm here. Just to see your eyes for the first time," Gayle said. "So hopefully we can win this game and then we can have a drink after. Don't blush, baby."

"I'm not blushing," McLaughlin said, shutting Gayle down. It was too late, he had already caused national controversy.

The Australian media went all out in their hunt for Gayle's head over what was deemed a sexist comment. Thousands of think pieces were written, someone surely live blogged the saga and Gayle was slapped with a $10,000 fine. McLaughlin just wanted to move on.

It seems McLaughlin may have at least another 18 years of inappropriate commentary to come in the Gayle household. If he isn't just giving one more bit of cheek in the ongoing saga. No one can quite be sure.

Either way, that baby will have quite a story behind her name.
