If your football team had gone 50 years without a major trophy, the excitement when it gets very close to winning one would be palpable.

It's the story of Australian rules football team the Western Bulldogs, who won against Greater Western Sydney in a tense preliminary final on Saturday.

Now, as the Bulldogs are set to play in their first AFL Grand Final since 1961, it's little wonder why so many celebrities have come out of the woodwork to put on the team's red, white and blue colours.

The last time the Bulldogs won a Grand Final was in 1954. Next Saturday, they face the Sydney Swans in what is arguably the country's biggest sporting match of the year.

Check out Chris Hemsworth, who put on a jersey and looked like an absolute beast in his Instagram post.

Or documentarian, Louis Theroux, who is in Australia at the moment for a speaking tour. The fact he's expressed any sort of interest in Australian rules football is still a surprise to us.

Then there's of course the usual glut of politicians and Australians, pumped about their team finally making it to the game's biggest stage and edge closer to the Holy Grail.
