America's new citizens get to live in alternate reality where Obama is still president

If everyone thinks Obama's still president it has to be true.

Barack Obama hasn't been president for months, but new citizens are still being welcomed with a letter from our (desperately missed) former president.

It's like November never happened and Trump's election was all a figment of our imaginations.

Could it be?

On Friday, a news columnist posted her British husband's citizenship packet. It included a letter with that familiar Barack Obama signature -- and he was referred to as president of the United States.

On Monday she wrote about the tweet going viral.

Many, including celebrities like George Takei, shared their congrats for avoiding a Trump welcome letter and getting to stretch out Obama's presidency -- reality be damned.

It gets better. One woman said that a swearing-in ceremony for her husband in March still played a video featuring Obama -- before reverting back to a generic welcome video.

Sadly, instead of a Trump-free alternate reality, it turns out that the current administration is just behind schedule on passing along information to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

It takes months for a new administration to get new letters and videos up and distributed. Trump's still haven't come in apparently.

The Hill reported over the weekend that more recently 200 letters went out with Obama's letter in what was an "administrative oversight." Most of the 300,000 new citizens since Trump's inauguration haven't received an Obama welcome -- despite presumably wishing they had.

But just to be clear, Obama is still president. Right!?
