Photographs of a wildfire in Lake County in Northern California show massive devastation in the region. The damaged area has reached more than 4,000 acres, with the fire forcing evacuations of hundreds of residents and animals from the region.

The fire began late Saturday and quickly spread, striking the town of Lower Lake where the flames burned more than 100 buildings. It has also burned the post office, a winery, a Habitat for Humanity office and several businesses. Another 1,500 homes and other structures are also under threat. No one has been injured.

As of earlier Monday, the fire was only 5 percent contained. The blaze is one of 11 large wildfires in the state, where high temperatures and parched conditions brought on by a five-year drought have raised the fire danger.
