Sure, Australia has a strict border protection policy, but this is taking things to a new level.

CNN recently ran a caption stating simply: "Australia building a fence at the Slovenian border." It shocked even the most hard-line refugee refusers. This was surely immigration policy gone mad.

For anyone who knows the island nation is about 14,000 kilometres away, they would know that this statement makes no sense. For CNN, someone in the captioning department needs to brush up on their geography.

Once again, Australia has been confused with Austria. It's not okay. We are not okay.

Vox's Matthew Yglesias first pointed out the ridiculousness of the caption on Twitter Tuesday, before Australians jumped on board for a good old take down.

The actual date of the broadcast is unknown, as the building of the fence on the Slovenian border was announced in November 2015 and continues to be a controversial topic.

Unfortunately, it isn't just CNN that is confused between the German-speaking European country and Down Under. Google "Austria and Australia" and the top-searched question comes up: "Austria and Australia are they the same?"

No world, they are not the same. Despite the fact Australia is now competing in Eurovision and both countrymen don't mind a couple of pints of beer, Australians can tackle sharks and exterminate spiders with their bare hands. Never forget.
