The one glaring problem with the iPhone X's poop emoji

Wouldn't an ostensibly healthy anthropomorphized turd be brown throughout?

Perhaps you're wondering what could possibly convince you to drop more than a grand on the iPhone X. There's more on that here.

Or maybe you're wondering if Apple's Face ID technology is a match for identical twins. If so, we've covered that too.

Or perhaps, like us, you are wondering: Why is the inside of the poop emoji's mouth so white? Wouldn't an ostensibly healthy anthropomorphized poo be brown throughout? Are we deeply overthinking this emoji's design choice? (Sure, but we wouldn't be the the first to do so this week.)

Our Chief Correspondent Lance Ulanoff first brought this to our attention through the iPhone X's 3D emoji feature. Basically, the phone uses 3D mapping to create emoji animations that mimic the phone user's facial expressions. (Very creepy, but we'll set that aside for now.)

Should you choose to record a text greeting using the poop emoji, you'll find while speaking that it has a white interior.

Is the pooper of the poop emoji ill? Maybe! White poop happens! Per Mayo Clinic, white stool might be indicative of "a bile duct obstruction," or it could be a side-effect of certain medications.

Or maybe we were just wrong to assume that the turd's gleaming smile was the result of expensive dental work, rather than a toothless hole in the emoji's face. Still, if the poop emoji gets clear, bright eyes, we think it should have a full set of teeth, too.

If, by some extremely remote chance, an emoji designer at Apple sees this and thinks, "huh, now there's a nuanced critique," just be sure to give us credit in the next iOS update.
