Watching someone decorate cookies can be either a nightmare...

Or a hypnotic dream.

Something about watching anonymous hands create intricate flowers out of icing, or draw hearts with metal tools and flood cookies with shiny frosting makes the entire social media world take notice.

Here are some of the greatest, most hypnotic cookie decorating videos of all time:

1. Mézesmanna's "embroidered" cookie

This Hungarian cookie decorator's videos are the edible equivalent of swinging a pocket watch and saying, "You are going into a trance... now you will do whatever I say." Watching her deftly weave together strings of colored and white icing on a small square cookie is both relaxing and invigorating.

2. SweetAmbs' heart cookies

This woman made an entire Facebook generation stop hating Valentine's day. Listen to her calmly chat about "flood consistency" royal icing and you feel your hatred towards your ex melt away. Watch her stagger those red dots then make them into hearts like a BOSS and forget why you ever wanted to cigarette-burn everyone who sent a lovey-dovey Valentine's Day tweet. It's relaxing, it's informative and it's downright therapeutic.

3. Sweetopia's kokeshi doll cookies

Marian Poirier's edible take on kokeshi, which are Japanese wooden dolls, is intricate beyond belief. She uses petal powder, edible markers, several different consistencies of icing and the patience of five preschool teachers. However, the result is stunning.

4. Haniela's Eiffel Tower cookies

This video is short but sweet for certain. A sea of creamy icing, a dash of metallic silver and dozens of totally uniform purple dots make this Eiffel Tower even more beautiful than the original. As a bonus, you don't have to wait in line or test your vertigo to enjoy it.

5. Pretty Pretty Pastries' watercolor cookies

Though this is targeted toward Valentine's Day, the technique is beautiful and versatile enough for any day of the year. Watching Heather Naples paint flowers in varying shades of pink is inspiring. Best of all, the video is short enough to watch while you are next in line at Trader Joe's without having to worry if you are going to miss your turn to finally reach the cashier.
