SYDNEY -- Cookie Monster has been hanging out Down Under with the cute, cuddly and crazy locals.

The Sesame Street muppet turned up with an entourage to Taronga Zoo in Sydney on Monday, searching for cookies. Instead, the blue cookie destroyer found a cuddly quokka, a red kangaroo, a koala with attitude and an emu to chase around.

In a moment that dreams are made of, the happiest creature on Earth -- the smiling quokka -- and Cookie Monster snapped a selfie to make all the camera-happy tourists on Rottnest Island jealous. "Me gonna get a selfie cause they always smiley," Cookie Monster said while framing the money shot.

He then chewed the fat -- or more specifically, the eucalyptus leaves -- with an over-excited koala and gave Penny the kangaroo a little smooch. We sense a romance blossoming. The emu wasn't so interested in the zoo's new star, with shade being thrown Cookie Monster's way like nobody's business. There's only room in this zoo for one main attraction.

Mashable Australia took some time to be a muppet around town with Cookie Monster, soaking in the sights of Sydney Harbour, the Opera House and the Museum of Contemporary Art, for a dash of culture. On the way, Cookie Monster cheered up a crying girl, let his blue fuzz blow in the afternoon wind and attempted to eat some Tim Tams. A fair dinkum adventure.

The hungry creature, who hasn't been Down Under in two years, also scratched up on his Aussie lingo dropping some stellar phrases like "G'Day Mate" and "Me a good bloke."

What a true blue Aussie.
