The cops are just trying to get a 5-pound bag of weed back to its rightful owner. Nothing fishy here.

The Columbus, Indiana Police Department posted a photo and plea to Twitter on Tuesday asking for the owner of 5.5 pounds of marijuana to kindly come forward and claim their weed.

"Stop by the police station to claim. Dont [sic] forget your ID," the cops wrote in the tweet.

According to the cops, someone apparently delivered the weed "to the wrong address."

While the tweet is kinda funny, we highly doubt someone delivered five pounds of pot to the wrong address. It's more likely that someone missed their pickup.

People who send drugs through the mail will often list their neighbor's address or a vacant house as the delivery destination, just in case someone gets privy to the contents of the package. This way, cops will knock on the wrong person's door if they find out someone is shipping cannabis through the mail.

The person receiving the pot will then wait for the package to be delivered, and will either pose as the homeowner or intercept the package after it has been delivered, hopefully at a time when the homeowner is not home. Clearly, it didn't work out this time, and the homeowner turned over the weed to the cops, like a narc.

So as the cops just try their best to be #relatable, they're actually missing the whole point.

Regardless, everyone was well aware this was clearly a trap.
