The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive map Inferno is receiving a makeover that could finally make it ready for competitive play.

A new version of Inferno has been released in a beta branch of CS:GO and everyone is loving it. You can check out some of the major differences in this gallery:

Some of the most notable changes to Inferno are better lighting overall, better visibility on Bombsite A, a widened chokepoint at Banana (the path from terrorist spawn to Bombsite B) and no more dark room in Apartments.

You can see even more changes in the new Inferno in this walkthrough by YouTuber Bl0odwork:

Inferno has received a lot of criticism for its balance issues, which usually leads to huge counter-terrorist leads in the first half of games. This along with low lighting, narrow chokepoints, and varied visibility (both too much and too little in different locations) have kept Inferno out of the map pool at professional tournaments.

The pros and analysts that have taken a look only have positive things to say about the update so far.

To opt into the beta and play around on the updated version of Inferno, right click Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in your Steam library, go to Properties, hit the Betas tab and select "1.35.5.3rc -" to load that version when you start the game.

Valve is asking for people playing the new Inferno in beta version 1.35.5.3rc to report bugs on the CS:GO Reddit.
