Rebecca Bunch was working hard at a New York job, making dough but it made her blue -- you know what? As quickly as the plot of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend can be summed up in musical form, why rush greatness?

The second season of the critically acclaimed show premieres Friday, Oct. 21. While you really should watch the whole 18-episode first season before diving into round two, if you're short on time, we rounded up five episodes from Season 1 for a quick binge to get you all ready for Friday's premiere. The first season in available to watch on Netflix.

Warning: The songs will 100% be stuck in your head the rest of the week.

Episode 4 "I'm Going on a Date with Josh's Friend!"

Rebecca questions her decision to move to West Covina while devoting herself to helping Josh get a new job. Heather advises Rebecca to find someone who "pound the bad feelings" out of her, but Rebecca can't bring herself to do it. Meanwhile, Greg asks her out after summarizing his conflicting feelings for her with eerie eloquence:

I still like you, and I know I shouldn't. I don't want to. You're not that nice to me, and you're weird. And I tell myself to stop thinking about you but every time you show up it's like BOOM, feelings!

Rebecca's one-night-stand panic pales when compared to her first-date panic, which combusts spectacularly as she ditches Greg for a random vendor she might during their date. And you thought this show would be all music and whimsy!

Episode 5 "Josh and I Are Good People!"

Greg tells Rebecca and Josh that they're terrible people, a stinging comment they both take to heart. Rebecca throws herself into what she perceives as selfless acts (most of which involve spending or donating money, which will catch up with her), including representing Daryl in his divorce case. The episode showcases how wholly Crazy Ex-Girlfriend imagines all its characters, even tertiary ones like Daryl's wife and daughter and Father Brah.

After soul-searching at the mall and playing hoops, Josh realizes and admits that he's attracted to Rebecca, but loves Valencia. Unfortunately, Rebecca only hears half of it.

Episode 9 "I'm Going to the Beach with Josh and His Friends!"

This episode is a crucial turning point; It recognizes Rebecca as an outsider to West Covina and embraces that obstacle. Valencia spitefully invites Rebecca to the beach (you'd be spiteful too if your boyfriend tucked back another girl's hair). After an excruciating 25 minutes (for us, anyway) on a party bus with Josh's friends (and Heather as Greg's date), everyone's emotions come spilling out, as they do in bottle episodes. The news that Rebecca moved to West Covina for Josh horrifies everyone -- except Josh.

Episode 14 "Josh Is Going to Hawaii!"

Josh and Rebecca's love story doesn't begin after their passionate kiss shared in court, much to Rebecca's chagrin. In two sobering storylines, Rebecca's monetary mismanagement catches up with her, and she realizes that she may not be the heroine of a two-and-a-half star romantic comedy but the saboteur of Josh and Valencia's happiness. Remarkably, Valencia forgives Josh, and they begin a new stage in their relationship...or do they?

Daryl steals the episode by embracing his bisexuality, but it overwhelms White Josh, and Heather admits to Greg that she actually isn't okay with their breakup.

Episode 17 "Why Is Josh in a Bad Mood?"

Rebecca and Greg are boning like crazy, which would be awesome if Rebecca didn't get a UTI feel like she was falling for him. Worse yet, she can't tell Paula about the wild sex or the wild feelings and the secret eats away at Rebecca's already endangered soul. Josh, who was once all for Rebecca and Greg, has mixed feelings about their fling, and it makes him "Angry Mad."

Showrunners Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna maintain that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend isn't a rom-com; It's a story about deeply depressed and dysfunctional people making mistakes and then trying to correct them. Will Season 2 promise more cringeworthy growing pains? You bet. Will they be as searingly smart and soulful as Season 1? Count on it.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 2 premieres on Oct. 21.
