Crocs (and closet Crocs) fans, it isn't April Fools'. Fashion house Balenciaga just sent models down the runway in Paris wearing platform Crocs, elevating the polarising squishy foam shoe to new heights -- quite literally.

The new, limited edition Crocs will only be sold at Balenciaga stores, and on its website for its spring collection next year.

Balenciaga's version of the iconic, often much hated shoe adds a 10cm platform to the base. It also appears to come with Balenciaga-designed shoe charms called Jibbitz, that you plug into the holes on the top surface of the Crocs.

The company is calling it, simply, "Foam."

After the shoes hit the runway for Paris Fashion Week on Sunday, Balenciaga's official Facebook announcement lit up with bemused responses.

The shoes are just the latest normcore addition to Balenciaga's line-up that have managed to get a rise out of people.

Earlier this year, it started selling a $2,145 bag that looked a whole lot like Ikea's 99-cent tote. Then a couple of months later, it sold a $1,100 version of its own regular paper bag, except made of calfskin and metal.

This new Crocs collection, however, means you can finally dust off your Crocs and wear them proudly like you've always wanted to. Your time has come.
