2016 belongs to the crying Michael Jordan meme. The rest of us are just guests here.

Now, finally, the meme has a documentary worthy of its glory. Well, let's walk that back a bit. It has a fake trailer for a nonexistent documentary -- but one we'd gladly watch.

For the uninitiated: These days, the crying Jordan meme awaits the loser of every major sporting event. In what has become a sacred sports ritual, an image of Jordan's tearful face is Photoshopped onto whoever just lost whatever game. Below, we see Alabama coach Nick Saban and UFC fighter Ronda Rousey modeling the look.

Now, behold this trailer for a make-believe ESPN 30 for 30 documentary chronicling the saga of crying Jordan. It's glorious; we only wish it were real.

Aside from being the greatest sports meme of all time, the crying Michael Jordan is pretty interesting on some weird intellectual levels.

First, the photo it's based off was taken at Jordan's Hall of Fame enshrinement -- those are tears of joy that now represent misery and failure. Second, Jordan is a true sports icon and arguably the greatest American athlete of all time -- he's synonymous with winning, yet now his face represents coming up short.

And finally, there's the actual real-life debate -- which is completely ridiculous in and of itself -- that many sports fans carry on over whether crying Jordan is still funny or jumped the shark months ago.

But we digress.

Please, content gods, let this documentary happen.
