After rumors first circulated that Cynthia Nixon might be running for New York governor, the inevitable not-that-funny Sex and the City jokes followed shortly thereafter.

Nixon doesn't come without qualifications: she has a sizable presence and a progressive reputation within New York political circles, and is a vocal advocate for the public schools. And while Nixon has obviously outgrown her Miranda character, it's worth noting that her character would have easily had what it takes -- especially if she were up against a man who refused to fix the New York subways.

She was an independent, intelligent lawyer whose name was not Andrew Cuomo.

Here are just a few excellent Miranda quotes that could easily become campaign slogans, in a super clever fantastical world that many of us still pretend exists.

On being a woman in politics

"The only two choices for women; witch and sexy kitten."

Via Giphy

"I'm never going to be a girly girl. I never will."

"What I wanna know is, when did all the men get together and decide that they would only get it up for giraffes with big breasts? "

"My ass is fat because I just had a baby, you asshole!"

On family versus career

"Sometimes, as much as I love Brady, being a mother just isn't enough. I miss my job."

"I want to enjoy my success, not apologize for it."

Via Giphy

"Today's the baby nurse's last day. From now on you'll have to book me a year in advance."

On NY's tradition of crappy mayors

“There are no available men in their thirties in New York. Giuliani had them removed along with the homeless.”

On zoning laws

"If there were unlimited apartments in Manhattan, we'd all be single forever."

On her fitness for public office

Via Giphy

"I'm on Valium, everything's okay."
