UPDATE (4:25 p.m. ET): Despite my hedging in the original post belowe, a Comedy Central spokesperson has told us that the library is real and will be an event held in NYC in June with more details to come. Spectacular.

Look, I don't know what the hell is going on here and if The Daily Show's claim that it's going to build a physical library of Donald Trump tweets is real or a joke (update: it's real!) but the idea is so weird I haven't wanted to believe something is real so bad since North Korea said it had unicorns.

Not much is known about the library or if it's actually a thing that will happen or some sort of hoax-slash-joke that is being perpetrated on us (update: again, real thing!). All we have to go on is a press release that takes the tone of many of Trump's tweets, complete with "Sad!"

The Daily Show says its Donald J. Trump Presidential Twitter Library is an "actual library" that "will be located in New York City and will be free and open to the public."

So, exactly like Twitter except it's something you have to go to New York to visit. Okay, that's weird but weird is fine. Weird is good! These are, after all, weird times we live in.

More from the press release:

The exhibit will feature a fully interactive and hands-on experience for hands of all sizes, giving patrons the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to memorialize and celebrate the many “unpresidented” moments of President Trump’s Twitter history. More details to be announced later.

So this could be anything from a Trump cut-out with a stack of printed tweets stapled together to something more akin to carnival-like Convention Sideshow it rolled out in Cleveland at the GOP convention in 2016.

Regardless, whatever the library turns out to be, it will probably be more impressive than Trump's actual library since the president, it's been reported, doesn't read.
