Meet the lunatics who made Daniel Radcliffe a farting corpse in 'Swiss Army Man'

"The movie is about a farting corpse, but we wanted to take that and make it the most beautiful thing we could."

LOS ANGELES -- Gotta hand it to Daniels -- though Swiss Army Man probably isn't for everyone, it sure looks like making it was a gas.

"Daniels" would be the self-assigned moniker of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, whose feature film directing debut includes another Daniel (as in Radcliffe) and even a Dano (as in Paul).

Daniels, who got their start directing wild-idea music videos, had a wild idea for a movie: "Our goal was to take a bunch of equipment and a bunch of friends out in to the woods and make a crazy, insane movie that went against a lot of conventions about what a movie should be," says Kwan in this featurette for Swiss Army Man, debuting here on Mashable.

Their premise -- a marooned Hank (Dano) discovers that the dead body of Manny (Radcliffe) has many creative uses -- certainly shook up conventions when the film debuted earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival. Swiss Army Man inspired its share of walkouts in Park City, but has also stirred up some vocal fans along the way.

"The movie is about a farting corpse," says Scheinert, "but we wanted to take that and make it the most beautiful thing we could, and the most heartfelt thing we could."

A24 is releasing Swiss Army Man in New York and Los Angeles on June 24 and nationwide in the U.S. on July 1.
