LONDON -- David Beckham has shared a lengthy Instagram post explaining why he wants Britain to remain a part of the European Union after Thursday's referendum.

The former England footballer wrote about his experience of playing with French, Irish and Danish players during his time at Manchester United, and how he was able to travel and play in various cities across Europe throughout his career.

"We live in a vibrant and connected world where together as a people we are strong," Beckham wrote. "For our children and their children we should be facing the problems of the world together and not alone.
