When Questlove announced that the Roots, Bilal and Kimbra would no longer be performing at the David Bowie tributes at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall this week, he cited "bitchassness" and a certain musician's unwillingness to share their equipment.

Now we know that the musicians in question are Holy Holy, a David Bowie tribute supergroup led by Woody Woodmansey.

"There was a miscommunication about the use of the Holy Holy’s drum kit last night on the tight City Winery stage for the rehearsal show. Very unfortunate," the show's producer, Michael Dorf, said in a statement on Thursday.

In an interview with Mashable earlier this month, Dorf said that one of the tribute's goals was to limit the transition time between performances to a minute or less.

"I would hope that after a night's sleep and knowing we have a much larger stage with multiple drum kits and other equipment that The Roots will still join us this evening," he continued. "They have been a regular part of our tribute series and we deeply love and respect them.

"I remain hopeful they will still join the important celebration of David Bowie’s music tonight and tomorrow and the two sold out shows can experience their powerful performance as one of the 20 amazing songs planned."

Representatives for Holy Holy and the Roots were not immediately available for comment.
