LONDON -- David Cameron is likely going to try to and squeeze a meeting with a man who dresses up as an asparagus into his packed prime ministerial schedule.

Gus the Asparagus Man was created as the mascot to promote the British Asparagus Festival, which takes place in  Evesham, Worcestershire later this month.

At Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, Nigel Huddleston MP asked Cameron: "The prime minister has met many great people but I believe he has yet to meet Gus the Asparagus. Would he like to overcome his omission by joining me at the Asparagus Festival, which starts on St George's Day?

Cameron replied: "I’m happy to say that my honourable friend’s constituency is only one constituency away and we share the same railway line. So if there’s an opportunity for some great British asparagus I’ll be very happy to join."
