David Hogg's family home was swatted on Tuesday.

Someone called the Broward Sheriff's Office in Florida on the Parkland survivor's home, claiming that there was a hostage situation at the house. According to the local ABC affiliate, Coral Springs Fire Rescue arrived to find that the call was a prank.

"A SWAT team responded and cleared the home," Broward County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter told USA Today. "We are investigating who made the call."

Hogg and his mom weren't home -- they're in Washington, D.C. to accept the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights award. He graduated from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Sunday and is touring the country with other Parkland students to advocate for stricter gun control laws.

Swatting is a vicious prank where people falsely report hostage situations to 911, sending SWAT teams and other emergency response services to storm the homes of unsuspecting people. It's a dangerous trend in the streaming and online gaming community. In December, a swatting incident after a Call of Duty dispute led to the death of a man in Wichita, Kansas when he was fatally shot by a police officer. The victim wasn't involved in the dispute, but he lived at the targeted address.

Hogg found out about the swatting from a friend. "I think it's really a distraction from what we're trying to fix here, which is the massive gun violence epidemic in this country," Hogg told the local ABC affiliate.

He said it's "evidence of the fact of how many people are trying to stop us from what we're trying to do, which is stop these kids from dying."
