Thousands of fish have washed up dead in New Jersey
Hundreds of thousands of fish became trapped close to the shore in New Jersey and died due to a lack of oxygen, the BBC reports.
The fish, which are known as peanut bunker fish, were trapped in the creek by bigger fish in Raritan Bay and have completely surrounded some of the boats moored there.
They died from suffocation thanks to low oxygen levels due partly to the warmth of the water, according to the New York and New Jersey Baykeeper organization.
