AOL Instant Messenger is being laid to rest and the internet is mourning very loudly

AIM has g2g :(

They say good things must come to an end, and unfortunately, that time has come for everyone's favorite chatting platform of the '90s, AOL Instant Messenger (or AIM).

In an announcement made on Friday, it was revealed that AOL's parent company Oath would be discontinuing one of the internet's first instant messaging platforms on Dec. 15. That leaves you with only 70 more days to chat with your friends, listen to that door opening sound again, and begin the mourning process.

While the majority of folks haven't logged on the app for awhile, man, people took the news hard and memorialized the chat by sharing their remembered their usernames.

Others commemorated AIM by sharing memories, plotting ways to profit from it's demise and by...@-ing Elon Musk?

RIP AIM. We know you've g2g but we'll never forget you. TTYL, in another life perhaps.
