Delta flights are delayed globally due to massive system outage

The company hopes to resolve the issue "soon."

UPDATE: Aug. 8, 2016, 3:03 p.m. CEST According to Delta Airlines, the system outage that caused massive, company-wide delays was due to a power outage in Atlanta. "A Delta ground stop has been lifted and limited departures are resuming following a power outage in Atlanta that impacted Delta computer systems and operations worldwide. Cancellations and delays continue," the company wrote in a post.

Delta said that flight status reports on its website and mobile app might be affected as well. The company has published a a waiver for customers traveling on Aug. 8 through Aug. 12.

All Delta Air Lines flights are delayed due to a system outage, the company has announced. "Delta has experienced a computer outage that has affected flights scheduled for this morning," the company wrote on its corporate website.

"Our systems are down everywhere," the company's official Twitter account tweeted, answering some of its customers' angry tweets.

In a series of tweets, Delta explained that the flights currently en route are operating normally, but scheduled flights are delayed.

The company doesn't have an ETA for the fix. In answer to several customers, Delta said it hopes to resolve the issue "as quickly as possible."
