Everything coming to Disney+ in August 2020

Disney+ is sprinkling a little more magic into its catalog.

This August, the streaming service will welcome new episodes of series including Muppets Now, One Day at Disney, Disney Family Sundays, Pixar in Real Life, and Weird But True.

Looking for a new film instead? Disney+ is premiering a comedy in which a man returns to the Magic Camp of his youth as well as an adaption of the award-winning book The One and Only Ivan. A brand new Phineas and Ferb movie will also make its debut on the platform alongside a documentary about Howard Ashman, the lyricist behind some of Disney’s greatest musical numbers. Older movies making a comeback include X-Men, Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Greatest Showman, and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Top Pick: Howard

Howard Ashman is a Disney legend. Not long after bringing Little Shop of Horrors to life, he hopped over to the Mouse House where he served as a producer and lyricist for classic animations including The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin.

Created by Ashman's fellow producer Don Hahn, Howard will take a closer look at this musical hero's life and legacy. The documentary will kick-off with Ashman's upbringing in Baltimore, explore his creative contributions at Disney, and conclude with his tragic AIDS-related death.

Loaded with archival footage and interviews, we're hoping Howard is the legacy Ashman deserves. Its nostalgia-filled trailer is a good start.
