Dog barely escapes when its leash gets stuck in elevator
Recent CCTV footage from an elevator in St. Petersburg, Russia shows a horrifying incident where a dog was nearly killed when its leash became stuck outside of the elevator.
The clip starts with a child and woman entering the elevator, followed by their dog with its leash in tow. In the background you can see the dog's leash go taunt as it gets stuck on something off camera, and a person can be seen attempting to untangle it.

But it's too late. The little boy hit the floor button as soon as he entered the elevator, and the doors close with the two people and dog inside with the end of the leash outside.
The woman notices just as the doors are closing, but the elevator heads down. The dog is pulled to the ceiling, hanging from its collar.
Fortunately, the elevator appears to stop just as the dog reaches the top, and the dog is left hanging. It appears to be a little freaked out, but not in any serious pain.
The two struggle to figure out what to do. They continue to push what seems like every button in the elevator while the dog is stuck hanging in the air.
Thankfully, the dog drops to the floor a few moments later. It's not exactly clear what released the dog, but it is possible that the other end of the leash was either cut or broken.
According to Russian news outlet RenTV, the dog survived the incident, and it appears to be walking at the end of the clip.
This isn't the only incident where a pet was nearly killed when its leash became caught in an elevator. In February a similar incident occurred in Missouri, however that dog was saved thanks to a quick-thinking maintenance worker.
