When Donald Trump got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007, it was a symbol of his rise to reality TV stardom on The Apprentice.

But as he has taken the lead for the Republican presidential nomination, the star has also become a symbol of Trump's divisive campaign.

And perhaps as a result, it's been defaced by both humans and their pets.

Some have simply scribbled political protests.

Others have spray painted symbols of dissent -- in this case, seemingly hitting the mute button on Trump.

Others have had more straightforward symbols of protest.

Others have marked their disapproval with a "personal salute."

And then there are the "contributions" from the animal kingdom.

Humans have also relieved themselves on the star, it appears.

The Trump star is located on the north side of Hollywood Boulevard's 6800 block, across the street from the Hollywood and Highland Center.
