The moment the world's been waiting for has finally arrived: Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin finally met ... in front of cameras ... and yes, there WAS a handshake.

*grabs popcorn but also hides under blanket*

The first footage of Trump and his not-BFF-but-also-possibly-secret-BFF Putin made its way online Friday morning when the two met at the G20 Summit. And we have none other than German Chancellor Angela Merkel — who just had her own awkward as hell handshake with Trump — to thank.

The video, posted on Merkel’s German cabinet, the Bundesregierung's, Facebook page, shows a blurry (yet seemingly normal, for Trump) handshake between the two men, among another more casual greeting. Trump and Putin are seen with huge grins on their faces and Trump has his hand placed on the Russian president's back while giving him a nice old pat.

*DRUMROLL*

HmmmmmMMMMMmmmmm.........

This moment comes after months of suspense and a whirlwind of controversy surrounding Russia's possible involvement in the 2016 U.S. election. And despite Trump consistently denying ever knowing the Russian president on a personal level — though there were various ties between Russia and his campaign — there's no way to un-see the two meeting on Friday at the G20 summit.

Now that people have seen a glimpse at what's claimed to be the first in-person interaction between the two men, the in-depth speculation has, of course, arrived.

Some saw the friendly display as that of two men who secretly know each other and are desperately trying not to break into their elaborately practiced BFF handshake.

But others felt the meet-and-greet was simply two world leaders respectfully hitting it off.

The world may never know, but you can analyze the rest of Merkel's exclusive G20 perspective here:
