New Doogee phone is rugged, modular, cheap, and actually quite powerful

It also has a 48-megapixel, triple rear camera.

If getting the best bang for the buck is your thing, there's a new phone from Doogee you might want to check out.

The Doogee S95 Pro has an incredibly long list of features and pretty impressive specs for its modest starting price of $399.

First and foremost, it's a rugged device that can withstand abuse up to IP68 and MIL-STD-810G specs, which means it's dustproof, waterproof and drop-resistant.

Typically, these types of phones lag behind current flagships in terms of specs, but the S95 Pro isn't bad, with a 6.3-inch, FHD+ screen, a Helio P90 processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage (expandable via microSD cards), a triple, 48/8/8-megapixel rear camera, a 16-megapixel selfie camera and a massive 5,150mAh battery. At 285 grams, it's not exactly light, though. On the software side, it runs Android 9.0.

In the words of every telemarketer ever, that's not all. The Doogee S95 Pro is also modular, with an optional battery module which adds another 3,500mAh, as well as as a speaker module that adds dual 27mm speakers, and an additional battery that lasts for 10 hours of playback, essentially turning the phone into a small party-sized speaker. All of the additional modules are magnetically attached to the back of the phone, though it needs to be noted that the speaker module covers the phone's rear camera.

The price for the Doogee S95 Pro is $399.99 for the phone alone and $499.99 for the phone and both modules, which strikes me as a pretty good deal if you need all the versatility that this package offers. The phone is available from Doogee's website.

A Spanish brand, Doogee isn't a very well-known manufacturer, but it has been around since 2013, steadily increasing its lineup over the years. It's mostly known for its rugged devices, though the company has experimented with various innovations over the years and sells regular smartphones as well.
