The Dota 2 scene has been quiet since Wings Gaming took home the championship at The International 6 in August, but Monday's announcement is bringing the noise for the next big tournament.

The next Dota 2 Major Championship is heading to Boston Dec. 7-10, bringing 16 qualifying teams to North America for the first time ever aside from The International. Teams will be competing for a piece of the $3 million prize pool.

Pro Gamer League is hosting the Major, which kicks off with open qualifiers Oct. 23-26, followed by regional qualifiers Oct. 27 and group play on Dec. 3 and 4 to determine seeding.

PGL has been hosting tournaments for years, including regular seasons in Dota 2 and CS:GO as well as the previous Dota 2 Major in Manilla.

The main event will be taking place at the Wang Theatre in Boston, and tickets go on sale Oct. 14.
