In a year dominated by chatbots, advances in visual AI tools continue racing forward.

A new AI research model called DragGAN (spotted by The Verge) made waves on social media over the weekend, and for good reason. The idea is that you can reshape images to your liking using just a mouse cursor and a simple graphical interface that's not dissimilar to Photoshop.

The possibilities here are pretty mindblowing. If you generate a photo of a lion and want it to face a different direction, just use your mouse to point its face in said direction and DragGAN will regenerate the image on the fly. You can change the shape of a car or someone's clothes with minimal effort. It's a pretty impressive effect.

Of course, the kicker is that this isn't something you can actually use right now. It's part of a research paper that's been intermittently crashing due to high interest. If you manage to get in, there are plenty of cool videos showing how it works, at least.

Just another crazy AI toy to add to the pile.
