If you've been anywhere near the internet over the past 24 hours, chances are you'll have heard about Pusha T's Drake diss track "The Story of Adidon" — and the controversy over the video's featured image, which appears to show Drake in blackface.

Shortly after the video's release, Pusha took to Twitter to claim the photo is "a REAL picture".

Well, according to Drake, the photo is indeed real — it's from a project he worked on in 2007, which he said aimed to "represent how African Americans were once wrongfully portrayed in entertainment."

Here's the full explanation he shared in an Instagram Story on Wednesday night:

"This picture is from 2007, a time in my life where I was an actor and I was working on a project that was about young black actors struggling to get roles, being stereotyped and type cast," wrote Drake.

"[...] This was to highlight and raise our frustrations with not always getting a fair chance in the industry and to make a point that the struggle for black actors had not changed much."
