Finding the perfect party game is no easy feat. You need something that appeals to the masses, encourages conversation, and accurately conveys to your guests the notion that you’re the best party host on the face of the planet. Board games are boring and no one wants to pin the tail on the anything anymore.

For the soirée-havers out there steadily growing weary of keeping their guests entertained, we’d like to make a suggestion that’ll blow the lid off the party and gaming scene.

DropMix: A fast-paced music-mixing game that turns you (yes, you) and your friends into high-powered party DJs. It’s a wild ride that takes skill, stamina, speed, and a healthy dose of creativity. And for those wondering — yes, it is freakin’ awesome.

Members of Mashable Brand X recently got the chance to play this dynamic new game and it obviously didn’t take long to get hooked. For those wondering what playing DropMix entails and how you can get your hands on one, check this out:

So many genres, so little time

The concept is straightforward enough: There are three ways to play DropMix — Party Mode, Clash Mode, and Freestyle Mode. Any way you play, it’s easy to blend popular songs from award-winning artists to create original mixes everyone will enjoy.

It all starts with the DropMix Music Gaming system, which comes with an electronic board and 60 DropMix cards. Each of the cards is embedded with an NFC chip that holds information about the song, or part of a song, that the card represents. Every card has a color and a level — colors represent different parts of a song (like harmonies, rhythms, melody loops, or lead melodies) and show players what will happen when you place that card down in the corresponding colored slot.

Multicolored wild cards play multiple parts of a song, and can be played in any card slot. Let’s say you want to play the “All The Small Things” by Blink 182 wild card. Place the card down on any slot of the DropMix board and the song comes on via the DropMix app on your connected device.

When it’s someone else’s turn, they can place one of their cards down. That card then adds vocals, drums, bass, or guitar to the existing song on the board, depending on what kind of card it is, effectively remixing the song. Now the party can get started!

The best part? You can create your own collections. In addition to the 60 cards in the starter set, you can collect Playlist Packs, which include curated playlists of 16 cards from a single genre, and Discover Packs, which are an assortment of five cards from a variety of genres. Each pack features a bunch of artists from a number of different genres that you’d never think of combining. So you’ve got bands like Disturbed, Imagine Dragons, and Weezer blending with Sam Hunt, Sia, and The Weeknd.

Because there are so many different genres to play, the mixes you make end up being truly unique and catchy creations. This music mixing tool might help you get a little taste of what you can create in DropMix.

Take, for example, the glorious moment where Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” got mixed with “House Party” by Sam Hunt. It was awesome. Like, shockingly awesome. That’s the beauty of DropMix: You can create a seemingly endless amount of remixes while playing against friends and entertaining the masses. Plus, you can save all of the mixes you make during gameplay.

A modern party essential

What’s especially awesome about DropMix is that anyone can be a part of the action. You don’t need to be playing to have fun, meaning you can literally just sit back and listen to the music and still have a good time.

DropMix is also portable — all you need is the electronic board and cards, and the downloadable free app that lets you control the entire system from your phone or tablet.

The mobility of the system is seriously impressive. You don’t need to spend precious minutes collecting tokens or tickets to move it to another room. Pick it up, move it, and play. It’s that easy.

It’s 2017 and gaming has changed, so why not embrace that change and try something that’s actually fun to play? There's no dice, no metal pieces, no crippling anxiety from trying to figure out how much income tax you owe — just music.

Get the full experience by grabbing the DropMix Music Gaming System for $99.99 and find out how to bring your parties up a few notches.
