So many genres, so little time

The concept is straightforward enough: There are three ways to play DropMix — Party Mode, Clash Mode, and Freestyle Mode. Any way you play, it’s easy to blend popular songs from award-winning artists to create original mixes everyone will enjoy.

It all starts with the DropMix Music Gaming system, which comes with an electronic board and 60 DropMix cards. Each of the cards is embedded with an NFC chip that holds information about the song, or part of a song, that the card represents. Every card has a color and a level — colors represent different parts of a song (like harmonies, rhythms, melody loops, or lead melodies) and show players what will happen when you place that card down in the corresponding colored slot.

Multicolored wild cards play multiple parts of a song, and can be played in any card slot. Let’s say you want to play the “All The Small Things” by Blink 182 wild card. Place the card down on any slot of the DropMix board and the song comes on via the DropMix app on your connected device.

When it’s someone else’s turn, they can place one of their cards down. That card then adds vocals, drums, bass, or guitar to the existing song on the board, depending on what kind of card it is, effectively remixing the song. Now the party can get started!

The best part? You can create your own collections. In addition to the 60 cards in the starter set, you can collect Playlist Packs, which include curated playlists of 16 cards from a single genre, and Discover Packs, which are an assortment of five cards from a variety of genres. Each pack features a bunch of artists from a number of different genres that you’d never think of combining. So you’ve got bands like Disturbed, Imagine Dragons, and Weezer blending with Sam Hunt, Sia, and The Weeknd.
