First teaser for Christopher Nolan's 'Dunkirk' will have you ducking for cover
LOS ANGELES -- The first teaser for Christopher Nolan's World War II epic washed up on the shores of the internet on Thursday afternoon -- and boy does it look beautiful.
This is how you drop a teaser, folks! The idea of Nolan directing a go-for-broke war movie should have you drooling with anticipation for next summer, especially after the current crop of blockbusters stinking up theaters.
The Dunkirk teaser only lasts a minute, but the suspense is simply gripping:
It'll be nice to have Nolan "back," as he has spent the past decade making the Dark Knight trilogy, as well as heady sci-fi movies like Inception and Interstellar.
Every great director makes a war movie -- think Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan, Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket and Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now -- and this is Nolan's chance to prove he doesn't need Batman, Leonardo DiCaprio or Matthew McConaughey to deliver a big fat hit.
Perhaps he'll even get that Oscar nomination you just know he covets. This time around, Nolan is working with a young cast of unknowns and barely-known Brits, as well as former One Direction singer Harry Styles and big screen veterans Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy and reigning Oscar winner Mark Rylance.
