There's nothing holdin' Mendes back on his Illuminate tour, which includes bringing out a very special musical guest.

Shawn Mendes fans received a delightful surprise while at his concert on Aug. 16. The pop singer was performing at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, when he was joined on stage by none other than Ed Sheeran.

The two performed Mendes' hit song "Mercy" and the crowd went absolutely wild. Seriously, you can barely hear them playing their guitars over the screams of adoring fans.

Mendes posted an Instagram on Thursday thanking Sheeran for stopping by. And trust us, if you are a fan of the two lads, this photo is sure to melt your heart.

The Canadian and Irish pop stars are both nominated for an MTV Video Music Award in the same 'Best Pop' category, but there seems to be no competitive vibes between the two.

Perhaps there will be more duets in the future? Give the people what they want, fellas.
