Eddie Redmayne's favourite 'Harry Potter' book is probably not what you'd expect

An unusual choice, but a good reason.

LONDON -- The argument over which Harry Potter book is the best is a debate that's been raging among wizarding fans for many years now.

A lot of people really like The Goblet of Fire, plenty hail The Prisoner of Azkaban as being the greatest, some say The Half Blood Prince or the The Deathly Hallows -- and there are plenty of other people who have a completely different first choice.

The following poll on goodreads, which was filled in by just under 1,000 people, gives a rough indication of the most popular books.

Eddie Redmayne, who has the leading role in Harry Potter spin-off prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, clearly doesn't like following the crowd, though.

The British actor recently told Entertainment Weekly that his favourite film is Deathly Hallows: Part 2 -- and his favourite books is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (or Sorcerer's Stone, if you're in the U.S.).

"I suppose I'd go with the first," Redmayne said. "My little brother, when he was 6 years old, he would always read it, and it had that instant immersion in to the world that made you release your imagination."

Not a typical choice, maybe, but it makes sense -- for most people, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was the moment they first fell in love with J.K. Rowling's world.
