LONDON -- The grinning man who posed with the hijacker of an EgyptAir flight for the "selfie of a lifetime" is set to appear on this year's Celebrity Big Brother, according to reports.

Ben Innes, 27, appeared in the "best selfie ever" with Seif Eldin Mustafa, who forced the EgyptAir plane to land in Cyprus claiming to have a suicide vest, which later turned out to be fake.

Innes, whose photo with the hijacker went viral, said he "threw caution to the wind while trying to stay cheerful in the face of adversity"

Now the Mirror claims CBB bosses, clearly inspired by Innes' "quirky personality", want to bring him into the house as an Internet sensation.

Last year's Channel 5 show was hit by a series of controversies, from an infamous bust-up between Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace and Farrah Abraham, which saw police called to the studios, to Winston Mckenzie's homophobic slur.

Communications regulator Ofcom also received more than 200 complaints after the show decided to air the hysterical reaction to David Bowie's death in the house.

Mashable has reached out to Channel 5 for more information.
