Although Apple hasn't admitted it's working on a car, Tesla CEO Elon Musk sees the company as bigger competition in the automotive market than Google.

Speaking at CodeCon on Wednesday, Musk divulged he doesn't view Google as a competitor in the car space. "They're not a car company," he said. He's right. Google said last fall that it never intends to be a carmaker

However, Musk does view Apple as a competitor in the autonomous EV market. Though, he does worry Apple didn't start the process soon enough, speculating the tech giant might not have a car ready for production before 2020. Adding, "I hope it works out."

Sorry Mr. Musk, but that's like the pot calling the kettle black. Let me explain.

In that same discussion, Musk went on to confess that Tesla isn't even done designing the Model 3 yet. You know, the car for which it has already unveiled and taken near 400,000 pre-orders.

So in the same breath, Musk warns brands entering the car market that automotive manufacturing is tough while admitting the car he plans to put into production in 18 months isn't yet done.
