In perhaps one of the most 2018 stories imaginable, Malala Yousafzai and Elon Musk were brought together on Twitter thanks to the satirical news outlet The Onion.

It all started with this story from Clickhole, a spinoff of The Onion, titled, "More Bad Press For Elon: The Car Elon Musk Launched Into Orbit Has Fallen Back Down To Earth And Crushed Malala Yousafzai."

Setting aside the fact that is a totally legit thing that could happen and would not really surprise anyone considering we now live in the dumbest timeline, Malala took the story in stride, tweeting to Musk on Thursday morning.

Of course, Musk had already tweeted the story once and, as a compulsive (sometimes bad) tweeter, you can damn well bet he tweeted back at Malala.

Malala's reply? Damn right she's keeping that car.

One fun added wrinkle: One of Malala's brothers chimed in to do what brothers do and troll his sister, which triggered a defense from a Malala fan who didn't know the troller was Malala's brother.

Sometimes I can't believe Twitter is free.
