Elon Musk just fanboyed the science on 'Rick and Morty' and it got too real

Reality is a lie and the robots will take over. Happy Thursday.

What a lovely day to carry out the meaningless of existence in this simulated reality. The birds are chirping, sun is shinning, and there's only a couple hundred glitches happening in the Matrix right now.

Oh, and Tony Stark-wannabe Elon Musk just straight up fanboyed Rick and Morty on Twitter -- until it got weird. Wubbalubbadubdub, to all my birdpeople in great pain and begging for help in between liquor-induced burps, amiright!?

The animated sci-fi comedy show is known for stretching the more philosophically distressing scientific theories to their absolute comedic limit. The multiverse theory, for example, is expanded (there's a science pun for ya) by the implementation of Rick's portal gun, which allows him to pop into any infinite universe at any time -- leading to the genius premise of an entire citadel of Ricks and Mortys who have their own culture, system of governance, and class disparity.

Then there's the theory of singularity, which proposes that artificial intelligence will surpass human capability. Or how about the one that mathematically proves that, in all likelihood, our world is a simulation.

As big proponents of the utter agony, fallibility, and meaninglessness of human existence, both Rick and Morty and Tesla mogul Musk share a lot of the same nihilistic philosophies.

But the flirtation between the two became social-media official when Musk tweeted at the show's official page that the recent Season 3 finale, "was disgustingly good." The good folks of Adult Swim's responded in kind, referencing Musk's staunch belief that humanity is doomed with a casual, "Thanks, E. Just riding this out until the singularity hits, you know?"

Then shit got way too real.

Never one to be outdone, Musk used those luxuriously long 280 characters to remind us all how smart he is:

To their credit, Rick and Morty stood its ground with the Twitter equivalent of a shit-eating grin. Musk remained characteristically ... insufferable in response, though:

Welp, there you have it folks. Another day, another level in our simulated reality challenged, and another opportunity for Elon Musk to get on his bizarre soap box to ruin everyone's fun.

Funnily enough, Musk shares a lot of traits with the show's mad scientist, Rick Sanchez. He might not be as all-powerful or intelligent -- but he certainly gives Grandpa Rick a run for his money in the narcissistic arrogance department.
