Emma Stone, a famous actress, somehow did not accept 17-year-old aspiring filmmaker Jacob Staudenmaier's invitation to prom. But she did throw him a very flattering compliment.

On a Friday appearance on Good Morning America, Staudenmaier revealed that the actress sent him a nice note, thanking him for his elaborate, unabashedly thirsty La La Land-style promposal video.

"Jacob, thanks for making the greatest proposal I have ever received," Stone wrote. "I can't tell you what an honor it was and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video.

"I’m in London working," she continued, "but I hope you have the best time at prom, and I’m grateful you thought of me. Thank you."

Okay, fine. No prom. But, before you deem young Jacob a failure, here's the silver lining:

"P.S.," Stone wrote, "I do see Gosling around the eyes. Love, Emma."

Imagine your celebrity crush using their Academy Award-winning time to write you a note, let alone a note comparing you to another celebrity. Would you melt into a happy ground puddle for at least a week? Probably.

All we're saying is ... Jacob came out of this just fine. And, thanks to Emma Stone, he'll now almost certainly find another prom date.
