Manchester experiences epic storms, social media explodes with pics, videos

LONDON -- Following one of the hottest days of the years in recorded history, greater Manchester, UK experienced a storm of apocalyptic proportions.

Torrential rainfall and a series of violent lightning strikes threw the region into chaos as roads, homes, and local businesses were hit by power outages and flooding.

Social media users documented the insanity, sharing some pretty gnarly photos and footage of the thunderstorm.

Roadways and a local tram line were flooded by the torrential rains.

Shoppers shared videos of an Asda in Ashton-under-Lyne that was forced to close when water began seeping into the supermarket.

When the storm had passed, stunning images of the peaceful aftermath began to pop-up.
