Your Facebook albums are about to get an upgrade.

Facebook made several updates to albums, including improved collaboration tools. One of the new updates allows you to add videos, check-ins, text posts, and other forms of updates to albums in addition to photos.

The company has also redesigned the collaboration features and made it easier and more intuitive to add friends as contributors to albums.

You can also add featured albums to your profile that make them public so everyone can see them:

The update is out today for desktop and Android, with an iOS update coming soon. The increased collaboration features and overall focus on albums comes soon after Google Photos' updates and increased success. Allowing users to add non-photo content is something that only Facebook can really do well, and can be an advantage over Google in the future.
